MicroPET provides functional imaging of molecular processes in non-human subjects, from mice to non-human primates. This allows for serial and longitudinal studies to be performed on the same animals--enabling researchers to follow one particular animal over time and monitor the effects of interventions on disease progression and outcome.
MicroPET can also be used to perform research on psychiatric disorders, degenerative diseases, and brain development in small animal models. MicroPET enables the analysis of genetic manipulations, biological transformations, and progression of disease in living animals as a means of gaining insight into these processes in humans.
